Salmonella,
I remember seeing your posts years ago on Bob Ball's site. Seems he's been hunting/fishing since he could walk.😀. Good to see he's still killing it. Thanks for sharing.

If you work 40 hrs/wk: at 5% inflation and after 5 years, you need a 28% pay raise or to work 44 more hours (*one full extra week* per month+) to make up the difference.

This is inflation

catching big fish is not cheap, we spend a lot on fuel when we run offshore. the tackle is not cheap either.

Major props to your son, Salmonella. You taught him good. He's invested his time and energy (and money) to be able to successfully target those big old hens. Well done.

I fish the same river but further south. We've caught some nice fish over the years but not many really big toads like those shown.

I'd have a hard time paying 250 bucks for a lure. I understand the investment required to make big glide baits with the research and development and injection molds and marketing costs but I'm a little surprised nobody had jumped on the knock-off lure market. Get the cost down so you're not tempted to go swimming after a hung-up 200 dollar lure...

The big striper runs are coming here in the next few weeks. I'm ready.

Thanks for sharing!

My PB Striper was only 8# and that was quite a fight. I can imagine a 25 pounder would be quite a challenge.
I could never dedicate that much time to fishing with a wife and family, but more power to him.
If your going for the trophy fish you have to pay.

Expensive, yes.

Necessary? I'm not so sure. Home made gargantuan pencil poppers would be under $20. 12" plastic swimbaits run about $6 each.

Nonetheless, if those were all from the past 6 months, that's amazing dedication.
