For those who have done this...

Is PODS a good alternative for moving a house full of stuff across the country if it all needs to be stored for a month or two at the other end before delivery to the new home?

Watching... will be moving across country next winter.
PODS seemed expensive to me. Having a trailer(tractor trailer) dropped off and picked up seemed more reasonable when I checked... but I don't know about storage, which we may need for a month or two.

I haven’t found anybody local who has done it or has family that has.

I utilized PODS when I moved from Florida to Georgia about a year and a half ago. Easy Peasy, lemon squeezy
No issues, everything worked perfectly.

I priced it about 6yrs ago when we moved and remodeled new house before we moved in...

Most expensive avenue by far. I rented the old house back and paid a substantial bonus to new owners and still came out ahead.

My sister moved her stuff from NC to AZ about 6 years ago with PODS. It worked out for her as they needed time to find a house. They lived in their motor home until they bought. She never mentioned the cost so I assume it wasn't to expensive.

Good deal? No. There are cheaper ways to achieve the same end.

Crazy convenient? Yes. Those other means require a lot more on your part.

Schit....Pods are worth it just for that fact you don’t have to drive the thing, carry your stuff up a ramp, or worry about balancing a load. You can pack those somebitches TIGHT.

I haven’t, but it seems to be a business model for success based on the convenience alone.

I did it in 2009 to move from New York to California.

The cheapest move was renting a large u-haul truck. So pods are expensive.

They have the advantage that you can take your time selecting what your going to move and packing up.

When I moved it was a horrible deal. Maybe it has changed, I don't know. But when I was looking at it I could rent a truck and pay for gas the whole way and still pocket about $900.00

My Son loaded his pod in Virginia and it was 9 months before he called for the pod.

They delivered it on time when he wanted it and it was cheaper than getting a moving company to move their stuff.
