There will be a line, just like they would line up for .22 rimfire ammo at Walmart and Academy every morning.

Hey, just guessing and hope I'm wrong. Hope it's not that unpleasant!

It will be just as unpleasant. I just did it last night. Took roughly 5hrs, and while it was civil for the most part, I did have one lady try to steal from my cart once.
Took 3 stores to find what i would normally find at one, and eggs, water, and TP were gone before i left the store.

Son and daughter-in-law have been using Walmart's preorder and pickup service for pretty much all their grocery shopping almost from when it first started. Today as they were driving into town for the scheduled pick up their weekly order they got a text stating it had been canceled.

Also Walmart put out this news alert earlier today:

Walmart cuts hours at 24-hour stores and other locations nationwide starting Sunday due to coronavirus

Kelly Tyko, USA TODAY Published 7:33 p.m. CT March 14, 2020 | Updated 8:04 p.m. CT March 14, 2020

Walmart is cutting store hours starting Sunday at its locations across the U.S. due to COVID-19.

Stores normally open 24 hours will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. until further notice, the company said late Saturday. Other stores, which are typically open until midnight, will also have reduced hours.

"This will help ensure associates are able to stock the products our customers are looking for and to perform cleaning and sanitizing," Dacona Smith, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Walmart U.S., wrote in a blog post.

However, not all of Walmart's 5,000-plus stores are affected by the change. Stores that operate under more reduced hours will keep their current hours of operation, Walmart said. Some stores, for example, regularly close at 10 p.m. or open at 7 a.m.

"As we make this change, associates will continue to work the hours and shifts they are scheduled, and our supply chain and trucking fleet will continue to move products and deliver to stores on their regular schedules," Smith wrote.

The Walmart store locator at www.walmart.com/store/finder did not have the updated hours listed as of Saturday night.

Grocery store chains including Florida-based Publix, New York-based Wegmans and H-E-B are among retailers closing earlier. Changes at more regional and national retailers are expected in the coming days.

The coronavirus is spurring panicked shoppers to stock up on products ranging from cleansing wipes to peanut butter as they prepare to hunker down in the midst of the growing pandemic.

Smart for Walmart to do that.

I worked at a big box store while in college. I learned one thing working there. People can be very, very selfish.

There will be things left.

From what I have seen in Nevada, fresh vegetables are pretty available.Oddly, no canned tuna but higher caloric value sardines were still there. Same for herring and trout. Condiments and lots of boxed stuff my wife and I don't know anything about was still there. Boomer garbage-food I guess. Frozen meals but no frozen vegetables. Carbonated water but no still. Flour was mostly gone apart from the more expensive stuff like 00 and Einkorn. Etc etc.

All depends on what you want. It feels good to not need to buy anything to keep the family fed. If you are trying to stock up on basics you are way behind the curve.

the box retailers in the phoenix area are being hit hard, and not just on paper products.
i have heard from two different employees of a major chain the stocking warehouses are running low.
as to htting at the opening, some stores have had lines completely around the stores.

I have two freezers full of deer, elk, and salmon.

Six months worth of bills in cash.

I think I’m in pretty good shape.

The wife and I swung by Target this morning to see if they had some items we couldn't get at the grocery last night. I set 2 gallons of distilled water on the check out turned to face my wife and the checker and when I turned back someone had taken one of the waters and disappeared.

Have your stores had deliveries since yesterday?

I bet there is no change in supply until trucks are unloaded Monday.

we're at the intersection of two interstates, and I think they get a truck or two every night.

More of an interest in what people buy up. The water thing is more interesting to me than the TP. bottled water is expensive!

Yep. Distilled water is what comes down from the sky when it rains. It's a giant distiller.
