Pre-WWII Oberndorf action, Mauser Banner under the front scope ring. It was a butchered sporter when I bought it from a pawn shop in Phoenix, AZ back in 1983.

Now it's a 7x57. AA French Walnut stock.

I never had one before, but being a carbine kind of a guy I always liked the looks of a Mannlicher. Then I decided that I "needed" a Ruger 77/22 and went looking on the gun sites. I happened upon a nib Ruger 77/22 RSI walnut / stainless and it came home to my house. I never knew that they made such a thing and it was probably a special run. It is still a work in progress for a scope and low rings, but I kind of like it so far.

Affirmative. Those Bofor stamped .308's are very difficult to find. I have had this one for 23 years.

My wife, son, daughter and myself has taken a lot of game with it.

Thanks

Here is my Mauser Type M, with embellishments evidently by Griffin & Howe, caliber .30-'06 and marked "Made in Germany":

[Linked Image from i1231.photobucket.com]

In my opinion, Mauser really knew how to make a full stocked rifle without making it look clubby. The proportions on the front part of the stock are perfect. The Mannlicher-Schoenauer pattern is followed even to the horseshoe type sling attachment.

Nice rifle!

You're right ..... A lot of gunmakers get the forend wrong. They usually look clubby and triangular. The Rugers are too short.
