Only live one I've ever seen (well a couple spikes about 10 minutes prior), and once I saw him, he didn't stay that way very long.

Nothing compared to what's been posted, but my first bull elk. Ate a lot of tags leading up to this one.

My second bull. Where I shot this one, there wasn't a tree around for a LONG ways. Got caught in the open and he pushed a herd of cows to right at 70yds from me. Saw him bugle in the scope before I shot him. Didn't realize how busted up he was, but was pretty tickled with him.

School me on the rifle with your 2019 bull?

6.5x284 correct? What are the other particulars, barrel contour/length and stock?

Correct.
Barrel is 26", but I am seriously thinking of getting it chopped to 22". I just don't think a guy needs 26" to effectively burn the amount of powder a 284 case can hold. Lilja 1/8 twist.

Not a clue on the barrel contour but it is fairly heavy. Stock is a McMillan kevlar off of a Rem 700 AWR. Timney trigger.

There was a few hundred elk up on that butte the other day.
I believe there's a mineral that area is lacking in the feed which leads to brittle antlers. It's probably also due to them always being in the sun, and the WGFD managing that area for bull quantity. It may as well be a bunch of dudes in a bar fighting over one girl. I think it all adds up to busted antlers, as 99% of the bulls out there are that way.

It's a unique hunt, regardless. Glad you got to experience it.

fantastic bulls fellows...im jealous. Not a bull in this province that would compete with most of the bulls posted up. you fellows are lucky to have those opportunities to just see them let alone kill one. you have good management going on
