Oh I know brother, thought about goin guided, but they have shiit years too... need to draw, dedicate a couple weeks, archery/rifle and let er chew 1. If you're going to go guided, think Cody area if you aren't afraid of horses. 2. If you have a choice between 30 and 124...there isn't one. 124 without a doubt. 3. A guide probably isn't going to be all that helpful in 124, its almost all public or private that you can access. The only secret to hunting 124 is how much time you have and laying off the trigger. 4. Don't go unless you can spend a ton of time, its a longgg season...those elk are here today, gone tomorrow. Time spent, rather than timing, is the limiting factor on who gets the best bulls and who doesn't. Its not a normal elk hunt at all, many aren't where they "should be". Truth!

My boy walking up on his OTC, public-land bull two seasons ago... The two of us even happier to have him out three days later... A couple of weeks later after cleaning the skull... It was a great bull for our parts, and an even better memory.

Hellava bull for the boy Dave, nice work Thanks Jud. Love that kid, and it'll break my heart to see him leave for college this fall...assuming the world hasn't fallen apart by then. I never thought he'd top his first bull, two years prior....

Mine too.
Rowdy headed there this fall. He's enrolled at the College of Natural Resources in the Rangeland program. I'll probably be working for him in 10 years given his academic prowess as compared to my own.

I was in the wildlife program at that same College. I shot my first archery elk, a lead cow, near Troy.
Good times up in that area. How's the Corner Club doing?

Yeah, he's not a flat-brim kind of kid at all. Matter of fact, he was out last night fishing for sturgeon until the wee hours of the morning. Froze his jiblets off, but he and his buddies had a good time otherwise. The corner club is still getting young folks hammered at a relatively seedy, and inexpensive rate....as always. I might have spent a couple of nights there myself. Here he is with his bull from this year. Not quite as impressive, but still a fair accomplishment for an OTC tag and a 17yo managing a couple of AP classes...

T, Here is a Selway bull from a couple of years ago. I wasn't the shooter, just the guide. For those that care about such things, this bull had an ear tag and was the oldest recorded bull ever tagged in Idaho....at least according to the IDFG Regional Office in Nampa. Dave

T, Here is another Selway bull I killed season before last. Nothing special, but still an OTC bull...
