spent the last 3 days chasing and calling---struck out.Thought I had a bird this morning--run and gun--but he heard another 4x4 in the distance and shut up so I lost him.God it was HOT in the woods in central Florida.Lots of birds gobbling but they just wouldn't come in!

Watch out for them big ole snakes down there. Bet a 20 - 12 gauge shotshell clips their heads off nicely!
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

On a more serious note, I've turkey hunted for many years in places where I know there were copperheads, and never saw one. Don't want to either. I was serious! Snakes and ticks (Lyme disease is no joke) are the things I dislike about turkey hunting. Permethrin handles ticks and I try to keep a sharp eye out for copperheads and rattlers. It's when you are sitting there against a tree for an hour and don't really know what has crawled up beside you that gives me the willies. Only once has it happened and that was just a black snake, but if it had been a venomous snake it might have been bad. I hunt big tracts of national forest, it's rough country, secluded and there is no cell service. Get hit by a big rattler miles from the truck by yourself and it wouldn't be a good situation. But I do love chasing those old mountain gobblers!!!
