Canada has closed its cruise ports until July 1.

Maritime law says that any ship cannot leave a country from which it doesn't originate and return without stopping at another country. No idea why but its the law

so this means unless they can work out some deal, all Alaskan cruises are effectivly stopped until July 1

Wife and I booked a 6 day cruise with Disney for the entire family (16) the last week in June, with air fare it ran just under 50K.
Disney is down right now, but late June is still a big ????
If they're still down then, we get a refund, plus vouchers for the air fare. We booked all this one year ago this month.
Who would have ever guessed chit like this would happen.

What? Might one put that in simple English please? Everyone has to be from somewhere.

I have heard of the Jones law: Prohibits ships of Non-U.S registry from embarking and debarking guests at two different U.S ports. Such travel would constitute point-to-point transportation between two U.S ports, which is prohibited on foreign flagged ships. US registries are of course exempt. Most sizable ships are registered with other nations due to our horridly expensive fees.

But I thought we were Citizens of the World /S

Imagine a corporate oligarchy so effective, so advanced and fine tuned that its citizens still call it a democracy.
