It depends on how far you want to shoot them
2's, and 3's(any length) work well for pass shooting ducks.
4's, 5's and 6's work well for shooting over decoys if you keep your shot in close. A duck passing your decoys 50 yards out isn't a decoying duck. The 6's work nice on early season teal.
Save the 7's for rails and snipe.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

btw...what would steel mag 3" bb used for? 3” BB’s are what I shoot 99% of the time for waterfowl. Divers, sea ducks, puddle ducks and geese it’s just a versatile load in my opinion. And yes, it will kill coyotes that wander too close...

2 and 3 steel, in that order, are my first picks for larger ducks and pheasants where non-toxic pellets are required. If shooting ducks over decoys in fields I'll use #4 shot early when the birds are real close. I'll also use 3 or 4 shot when I expect teal or wood ducks.
The rest are for finishing off cripples, shooting crows, or informal targets.
3" BB is my main goose load and is good for pass shooting ducks.

if not ducks, what else? thanks. All of them listed will kill ducks! 6 and 7 wouldn't be my first choice but I dam sure would kill ducks with them.

I keep a case of 3s or 4s for ducks.. 2s for geese because they pattern well in my gun. I like the kill the birds in the wheel house. Zero sky busting..
