If this gets to the point where the food chain breaks down, we can eat until the garden comes in.....then get fresh meat by trapping coons (raccoons to you city folk). Raising a garden isn’t considered “baiting” is it! ?

Electricity.....solar panels, batteries, and an inverter, should keep the freezers going and we’re all LED lighting. Lights would only be used in the basement....don’t want to leave the porch light on! grin memtb

She pulled up her stringer she had about 10 fish on there and the biggest was five inches long. Mostly bream. Those black ladies would eat any fish they caught.

We lived in Southern Louisiana for a few short years when the kids were Young. I took the kids and the dogs out to this series of lakes to do some dog training and some fishing. The lakes were packed with black families fishing. To not bother them,we went to the far side and started throwing bumpers for the dog. After a while, threw on a topwater and started ripping it back in. Had noticed no one was catching anything. After two or three casts, had a nice 3.5 lb or so large mouth. Kids were pumped that we had a fish, I let them all touch it and threw it back and then looked up and everyone was screaming at me as I threw it back. Realized everyone was there for dinner, not entertainment .

You can still buy Tab?

Boy!!!! they had some great soda pops back in the day.

Fresca when it had cyclamates was the bomb.

When they changed artificial sweeteners in it, they ruined any chance of me drinking any type of diet sodas.

In our industry they have sold, given away or frozen the fresh stuff, put a lock on the freezer and shut her down.

One big problem is that a foodservice pack doesn’t do any good in many retail situations. Not legally labeled, no upc, wrong size product, too large a pack that sort of thing.

Same at most here...

The bigger chains are the hardest hit, smaller stores are good.
I think most folks are either stocked-up, spent out or buying online.

I never had a striper that could compare to fried catfish if it was cleaned of excess fat.

dug around the freezers last night some....4 deer in there, 2 medium roaster-size hogs, maybe 50# catfish in the chest freezer where we keep wild game.

other freezer had 50# assorted beef, couple whole turkeys & a whole ham we had got for Easter. ...no starvation worries for a week or 2.

Thawed one of the birds to go in the smoker this weekend.

We lost 2 apple trees last year & i had chopped those into firewood for the smoker; the thawed bird will get some brine & then get applewood-smoked.
