I had a 35 Whelen a few years back and I stepped up .30-06 cases to 35 whelen but since I no longer have it how can I neck the cases back down to .30-06? Every attempt I make by running back through a .30-06 die crushes the case.

Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money but we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money. What's interesting is the first group WORKED for their money but the other group didn't.

Not sure what other dies you have, but maybe try an intermediate size 1st? I think 338 might work as long as the brass doesn't split from all the work.

30/06 brass is a dime a dozen.

That said, I am surprised your 35 Whelen brass is getting crushed when you neck back down. That's a bit of a puzzle. All I can suggest is maybe do a candle flame anneal before you neck them back down.

Brass can get pretty brittle after a few firings.

If OP really wants to return it to original configuration, an intermediate step, like a 338-06 die may help, then the '06 sizer. Annealing probably a good idea.

To me, that sounds like a lot more trouble than it's worth.

.30-06 brass is readily available, .35 Whelen not so much, the answer is pretty obvious.
