Poor town, all this and they have to pay the street sweepers OT to get all the empty brass off the sidewalks. If only them fellas would use some interesting calibers instead of plain Jane 9mm or .40 (likely aluminum cased Blazer when they can find it), the streetsweepers would have less to pick up. $1 a piece or more for a .256 Win Mag. These numbers, as with any “cost” numbers that come out of any hospital in America are VASTLY exaggerated.
Actual cost, including Doctor and nurse pay, bandages and medicine.
Maybe 5% of that number.
The reason hospitals inflate their billing by 95%+.
#1 Many/most patients do not have insurance, or adequate insurance.
When you or me go to the emergency room, they have to bill enough to make up for all the no insurance, free care they give to the deadbeats who go to the emergency room every time they stub their toe or catch a cold.
#2 Medical insurance billing has become a war between medical care providers and insurance companies. Patients who can/do pay are the collateral damage in this war.
