Sorry for your loss my friend.

Praying you feel a little better in a few days, and a little better in a month or so. There will always be a void there in your life from your pets as they pass away from our grasp. In time, I hope you have a peace with this. Thinking of all the joy this dog has brought to you and your family. I know having a pet isn't always a bed of nice flowers. Sometimes your working pets might have a few adjectives for names.

Never the less wishing you and your family the very best.

All of your photos are great. They should be in a special place for lots of people to see. "The Smithsonian" maybe

Take care, God bless.

Hate to hear that Sam. Losing a great dog is one of the hardest things a guy can go through..... frown

Good boy, Whitey. Good boy.

Sorry for the loss Sam, and your fathers loss as well,

If we were to be honest, Whitey lived a life most dogs could only dream about,

Having said that, even I feel a void from this, Whitey was a Rock star in your photos.

He will be missed by many.

Sam, like everyone else, I'll extend my condolences. I remember the original postings of the pics you've posted in this thread and you could tell the dog was special.

You lost a damn good companion and I hate to hear that.

Dogs just don't seem to last long enough. And you can so damned attached to them.

What he said!

Today is my English Springer Spaniels 13th birthday. I'm afraid his time is short.

He is my 7th ESS. It never gets easier.

You'll see him again one day, as the writer above mentioned.

Until then...

The best thing you can do in life is treat a dog right, they will repay you forever, they are loyal and trustworthy and honest to a fault, they will muddy your truck seats , and sleep on your best coat, but their tail will always be waging at the sight of you. Muddy cold and tired they will always be happy to see you and ready to work before any breakfast. No bitching or whining just an ear rub and butt smack and off they go, cows or cockbirds they will work the day through. Its a sorry man that has never known the love of a good dog, and he will spend eternity trying to find what he has missed . I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

Hell, I'm missing Whitey, too. I've got to stop and visit with Sam's folks and Whitey twice now as I went thru on the way to Icebreaker. Finn also got to meet his hero. Just won't be the same, next time.....

Sam,
Truly sorry for the loss of Whitey. Had his twin for many years. When I had to go to work in town full time, he didn’t have much to do so he’d go help the neighbors when they were working cattle. Long after he was gone I heard a lot of stories about him. The only time a good dog really lets you down is in their passing.

Losing a working dog/close friend is a real bish. Looks like had a good life helping you out on your ranch and recreating together. That is a special relationship you have only a few times in life.

Sam: I'm sorry for Whitey's passing. I hope you and your dad remember him for how great he was and don't mourn too long. Great dogs don't want that for their owners.

My father in law had a heeler that was one of the coolest dogs I had ever known. He would follow the kids in the Gator all day while they drove around the farm then run off and follow grandaddy as he tended the cows. When finished he would go right back to the kids.

I got the feeling he felt it was his farm, and he was running the show. Sorry again for the loss. -tnscouter
