Looking to get a new range finder. Been a while since I bought my last one. What brand and model do you recommend or like? Anything special to look for in one? Any pros or cons with any? Looking to spend up to 250$. My last one was a Nikon. I see Doug carries them, I like the looks of the Leupold 1300 DNA for 249$. Anyone have the Leupold 1300 or have any experience with one? Which model do you recommend Doug?

I am a big fan of the Leica. Mine is just to 900 yards, bought on special from Doug several years ago. It resolves very fast and is simple and fast to use. I have often ranged objects past 900 yards with it. To me, the quick resolution of distance is a huge deal. Doug has some on special that I think are 2700 yards.

I just got an Athlon Midas 1200Y for $190 from Doug. Works great but no illumination for night or low light readings. Great service, good product, ya can't go wrong! 6x magnification, +-- 0.5yards, supposed to range deer to 600, secondary display: incline angle, vertical distance and true horizontal distance. The Lupy you mentioned is supposed to range deer to 900, otherwise the specs are almost identical.
Proper prior practice prevents piss poor performance!

I've been very happy with my Sig Kilo, would recommend checking those out.

My preference is a trusted Leica with a Nikon China backup.

Who knows where all components of anything are made, including your Ford, Chevy, or Dodge? My Leica rangefinder and scope says assembled in Portugal not Hecho en China. I was told once that all the laser transmitters like those in most rangefinders are made in one of two factories in China or Korea. Who knows? Happy Trails

There's likely more Asian parts in the vaunted "alpha" maker's products than we'll ever know. The $500-$1000 stuff is getting so good the pressure is on.

Not Portuguese made electronics either. It has China written all over it. Assembled in Portugal , probably has Chinese electronics in it . Not going to buy Athlon, Hawke, Nikon,SIg,Vortex or Leupold which are entirely made in China . It will be Leica. You justify your purchases, I will justify mine. I'll try to contribute as little as I can to an enemy of this country.
