Yesterday I was out cleaning Blue bird houses. Looking forward to a better brood outcome, because last year Black flies killed a lot of the young.

I am glad you posted this. I need to get mine cleaned out as well and we might have a few days of decent weather this week.

cleaned all of ours out two weekends ago. Had a bunch of them show up already, which triggered me to clean out the houses.

I just got back from town with enough limber for 30 or so bluebird houses. I think my chop saw is gonna rile the moose pair in me back yard tho...

What style houses you going to build?

I made up a few this style a couple of weeks ago.

Just the basic box like your first pictures. I got the plans from the Idaho forest service web site.

Got them done. Just need to put them up now.

I also have to set up the post that the snipe sits on and "sings" every spring. It just fell over last fall....

I just got done with the second batch of 30 bird houses... I did steal your idea for the pivoting side for cleaning them out on this batch.
There was a trapper in this area that used to put up bluebird houses when he was checking his trapline, and the bluebirds and tree swallows pretty much occupied them all in a year or two.
We have the mountain bluebirds here, and they seem a little more finicky and timid than the western bluebirds I've seen.
