I recently purchased a Savage Mkii FV-SR. 22lr and I'm needing an optic for it. I have been looking at the 4-16 magnification range for this particular rifle. I plan to shoot steel targets out to 300yds for fun in the back yard, also pack on the atv and small game rifle. I think I want a SFP with holdover type reticle. Question is what would be a better value and more rugged? I have narrowed it down to the Burris Fullfield 2 4.5-14x42 OA w/ ballistics plex ($185) or the Athlon Talos 4-16x40 side focus MIL Dot Reticle ($149). 🤔🤔

True, very true. The bell of the Burris vs the Athlon looks much larger.

I have 2 of those burris scopes, one on a .223 and one on a .22wmr, they work well, clear, ballistic Plex is a good no frills system, hold zero well and track well. Little big for my taste but as I get older I find I need more scope past 100 yards.

As a side note, the ballistic Plex is a little thicker on these than the old 3-9x40 ff2, that's a very good thing if your vision is heading south, still no problem seing a 1 inch dot at 100 yards,

No idea, but, I sighted in a 17 HMR yesterday wearing a Burris FFII 3-9x40ish with the illuminated BDC and the dang thing is excellent. Purchased on some ridiculous sale we tossed around here a year ago or more.

Yep, nothing wrong with Philippine products. I've got a Philippine made dish washer. And she's damn good to look at too. Some would call her "Eye Candy."

I have an Athlon Midas Tac on a .260. Great so far. Either will do you just fine.
