Yes or no, opinions?

Jag, you out there?

I'm getting low on contacts and my current eye glasses are a little 'shaky' with a lens occasionally popping out so given the current situation I thought about ordering glasses on-line.

Don't really want to order but I sure as hell am not going in for a check up.

Anyway I see the Transitions lens as an option and got curious.

I got a pair and took a walk outside around the property and had no idea where to make my next step. Your brain will adjust to them in a few days.

You had best get the peppers looked at Sam.

I could tell a tale about a man that worked for me years back, he like to boast about his male equipment.
That started right after he got his new contacts.

Have you received them yet? If not, let us know how it goes.

If you're talking about the kind that will try to adjust darkening, I have used them for years. For the most part I like them, but they can get REALLY dark when it's cold and bright out. A cold Colorado winter day with sun on the snow can make mine seem almost black. In those situations I use prescription sunglasses which end up much lighter.

Most other times I find they work fine.

I liked them for everyday wear. But for hunting or fishing they sucked. First light comes later and last light comes sooner. Seemed to lose about twenty minutes of usable light on either end of the day due to the lens being tinted. They may be better now as I tried them about five years ago.

That happened to me, April 20,1994. Phish show at the Lexington horse center. Week later I had a Volvo 240 with $1200 in damage and no recollection of the previous 4 days. I was told later that I had a damn good time.

If you mean the traditional lined bi or tri focals, vice the no line glasses then they are wonderful. No one sees the different lenses. It will take an adjustment period. First fitting is important. If not JUST right go back and get fitted again. If you mean the glasses that auto darken in sunlight they are junk IMHO.

Get PRK or lasik Sam. Sucks ass for the first year, sucks huge ass for the first month. After that it's awesome except sucks ass driving at night. If your wife's not driving you around at night, you're doing it wrong any way.

AKA Sunday mornings......

My wife just came up with the idea of calling the local eye doctor(whom I've seen several times) and see what brands they sell. Go on-line check out the frames and have them ordered locally.

It appears as though using my insurance on-line is an issue so I'm thinking that's what I'll do.

As for the Transitions, they sound pretty sweet. Or maybe not?

Thanks for the replies.

I wear eyeglasses and have transitions lens in them. The only gripe I had was with my first few pairs because when I would be hunting in late afternoons, the lens would stay so dark that I had trouble seeing to shoot. I told my optician that and she suggested a different tint, and this newest pair of glasses work much better for be.

Yes I have had them for about a week now, thought I would try it as it seemed like a small loss if I didn't like them.

They are great so far.

Sam, if you truly mean transitions, AKA photogrey, I like them a lot. It is nice to have the tint when outside working in the sunshine, especially sun on snow. And it is nice that they turn clear when you step into the shop.

The downside is: They are absolutely no good inside the tractor cab or when driving a vehicle. The glass of the cab or windsheild does not let enough UV through to make the lens darken. For that use, you need actual sunglasses.

Progressives, for vision correction, is another discussion.

I've worn them for ~ 50 years, Sam.
I wouldn't be without them.
Like many blue-eyed folks, I'm very light sensitive, though.
I also found I need dark sunglasses on very bright, or snowy days. Particularly driving, the transitions don't darken as much as normal.

Try as I might, I failed to find Mister MacGoo walking on an I beam. Take care of the eyes folks.
