Not sure of the date of mfg, but that sure sounds similar to my Wingmaster. I got it from a friend with both barrels though.
Maybe tomorrow I look up the SN and find out the date.

1958.

20 gauge that I won on a football board with the princely sum of.50 cents. The football game was LSU vs Hardin-Simmons. My numbers were 0 and 6, the final score was 20-6, LSU won and won the National championship that year. I was just a wee bairn at the time.

Has been shot so much that you can point it straight up, punch the slide release and the corn cob falls on its on to full open chamber. Doves, squirrels, ducks, geese, rabbits and several whitetails.

Very little bluing left on it but still shoots # 4s, 6s and 7 1/2s like it always did. 28” full choke with the B.B. front sight. Has been used as a boat paddle twice that I recall.

Grandson has it now, disassembled and tucked away in the original box that it came in. Inside the box with the gun I have the written history of it along with the original sports page from the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate telling about the football game.

I bought my new in 1982, the first gun I ever bought with proceeds from my first job. I would have been in grade 10 at the time.

20 gauge Youth model, 21 inch barrel, camo, bought it about 5 years ago because I wanted a 20 gauge pump to turkey hunt with. It's an Express model, and not very slick. Had two 12 gauge 870's over the years, and ended up trading them off. There's one of them I wish I had back.

I bought an 870 Express Magnum last year that's been beat all to hell. Typical of a village gun. I'm rebuilding it which will include sand blasting and Duracoat and it will be my dedicated waterfowl gun.

When I started duck hunting in the Pac NW salt/brackish in 91 it was time to stop using my Grandfather's 4 digit serial number Auto-5 and I bought one of the first years of the coated/camo 870s. Great decision.

It's been a stalwart companion that often got broken down at the end of the day and dropped in the tub to clean the salt off then blow dried and oiled. Shot my first perfect rounds of skeet with it as well as a truckload of ducks and geese plus a couple off blacktails on Whidbey Island (no rifle area). While not elegant, it is as fine a simple, reliable firearm that has ever built.

Bought mine in 1972 in Midland, Texas from a Walgreens Drug Store for $89. Used my paper route money. It had a plain barrle on it, which I replaced with a Rem Chocked vent ribbed barrel maybe 10 years ago.

She does not get much use anymore. I started shooting skeet, for which a pump is a real hinderance. But she is still my sweetheart.

I have Wingmasters in 20 (LW magnum) and 12 (magnum), 80's and 90's respectively.

No offense to Winchester guys but I have had Model 12s, don't see the fascination.

Like my older Model 37s and I have a Model 31 Rem. in 20 ga.

I was a practical young kid back then. I thought that 16ga was going away. The Ithaca was damaged by a fall on the ice and I decided to let it go. The Remington has been flawless but it lacked the quality of the Ithaca. Remington has more stamped parts. I'm starting to get used to the Remington at 44years.

1984. Haven't used it in years, it's up at our place in PA...
