Wondering if rate of twist is in the Remington 700 in 280rem has ever changed over time? Current models list at 1:9.25” but wondering if that has always been the cases and if older rifles have a slower twist?

I have a 725 in .280 but have never checked the twist rate. It shoots 140 grain factory loads as well as I can shoot a rifle and kills deer dead, so I never really thought about it.

My 700 .280 from 1992 is also a 1:9.25" twist. Not sure before that time but guessing they have been that way a long time??

All I've ever seen was the same 9.25" for all their 7mm calibers. I don't know what the brand new Mountain rifles use, but would be surprised if slower.

My early 60's 700 BDL 7 Rem Mag as well as my early 90's 700 280 are both 9.25. I have never see any reference during the years to anything different.

Thanks. Sounds like it has always been 9 1/4.
