Nope. Just something I'd like to know more about. Is this a Savage rifle shipping box? Anybody seen one or have one? Time period? Is it original or re-purposed? Or did it contain truck parts during WWI?

I don’t know what it is, but if it would fit a rifle, it’s cool!

Outside dimensions are 3.5" x 7" x 52". Overall length of an 1899 was about 47". So it'd have been snug, but probably would fit.
“ The Savage 99 Pocket Reference”. All models and variations of 1895’s, 1899’s and 99’s covered. Also dates, checkering, engraving.. Find at www.savagelevers.com

Savage must have shipped a lot of single rifles to distributors over the years, so,.... could be. In addition to a foundry, mills, drills and the tons of other heavy equipment Savage must have had a lumber yard too.

Claims are that it was found in the basement of an old hardware store called "A L SHERK". And there was one, I can find several records related to it.
