No excuse for intentionally throwing up and in to hitters.

Considering the situation in the first one, I would say accidental. Up by 2 runs, 2 outs and a man on first, you don't want to put another runner on the pads.

When I pitched I always when high and tight when a guy squared around to bunt. Guy squared one time and I threw inside and pissed him off . Threatened me if I threw at him again. Next pitch he squares way early and I go inside. He never had a chance to react, hit him square in the nuts, fell back full spread eagle and hit the ground. When he finally shook it off my catcher, football player also, escorted him towards first base.

We pray our sights be straight
and our aim be true
We pray for no pain
to the game we pursue
We thank you Lord
for this land
We thank you for the sights
from our stands
We pray for safety, one and all
We pray we may return next fall

I’d have never made it as a baseball player even if I’d had the talent 🤷🏻‍♂️

Too hot headed in my youth. If I was the on deck batter I’d most likely been trying to show that pitcher what else a bat could be used for.

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Back in the heyday of baseball, 'dusting' the batter (also known as 'chin music') was commonplace.. Roger Clemons, Nolan Ryan, Kofax, you name 'em - and they threw 'em.. In today's game I don't believe anyone now truly aims to hit the batter above the shoulders - but ribs might be another matter..

If you were the batter and threw your bat back past the pitcher's face (never meaning to really hit him, of course) to show him that he shouldn't be trying to steal bread from your children by getting you out, all hell would break loose and you would be stoned at the city gates. For him to do the exact same thing with the ball, for the the related reason of your trying to get a hit, is perfectly acceptable.

We third-basemen seem to have missed out on the part of the brain that assesses situations and provides the intelligence to avoid being in such a position.
