Has anyone played with the 150 grain 7mm scenar? I noticed they are listed as a Scenar-L - what's the difference between that and a regular scenar?

Looking at running them in a 9.5 twist 7 rem mag project. Thinking 3100-3150 should be attainable?

Would like to run the 180 scenars, but not with the 9.5 twist.

I haven’t use it myself but the 220 from my RUM and the 139 from my Creed have made me a believer. They are excellent bullets.

Looking forward to what you come up with. What’s the BC on them?

Oh, I think the L part is the newer version.

I'm thinking of doing the same as the OP. So, in piggybacking his question, what is a good source of reloading information for the Scenars? It seems the big "V" powder company is the only company that has experimented. Yes. To all the smart asses, I know how to search forums like this. I would just like to know if there is a good, regular source, about which I am unaware. Thanks in advance.

I was going to use Berger data as the bullets seem similar in construction and shape, bearing surface, ect. and work up...Have lots of H1000 and some R26.

The L is longer drawn for long range than the regular Scenar.

Throttle fixes everything. If it doesn't fix the problem, it’ll end the suspense.

I was thinking along the same lines.

I run the 150 Scenar L in my 7X64, shoots little bug holes. Haven't tried it on game yet but will. Funny around here it is not hard to find Vitavouri powders, impossible to find H4350.. I run N550 and N160.

2940+ out of a 22" barrel. The only other bullet that seems close is the ELD-X, as far as accuracy in my rifle.

The 150/180Ls have performed just like the regular Scenars for me. Consistent lot to lot and very good terminal performance....

Have not seen on game performance with the 7 Mag/150
Scenar yet, just the 180s. All the 150s I’ve run have been in 7/08s.

Current load for 7 Mag/150s:

Rem brass
Fed 215s
69.7gr of H1000
2.750 BTO
3105 FPS

Had it up to 3152 with first signs of pressure.

Canazes9 has been using them in his 7mm08AI, at least he was when we were chatting about that bullet in 2018.

This was the last load I tried with the 7mm 150 gr. scenar l out of my 7mm-08. I've got one more to try at 41.5 gr. of big game but haven't been to the range lately. Yet I think it might be the one because the 5 shot groups shrank quite a bit going from 40.0, 40.5 and 41.0 grs of b.g.
