Kind of a shame.

I was hoping the caldera would let loose so we could all be called fear-mongering liberals from the usual suspects as we ducked for cover!

I can hear it now:

24HCF trolls: "it's just a common eruption! It's only 2 feet of ash, you limp wristed liberal sky is falling pantywaists! I'm a real man, I'll just shovel it without a face mask!"
The rest of us: "But the ash fall is exponential, they say there will be 12 feet!"

Would have made for some entertaining evenings before the mesothelioma set in.

But, alas.

From a man who lives with Yellowstone. And he is exactly right!

If we live long enough, we all have regrets. But the ones that nag at us the most are the ones in which we know we had a choice.

As long as the wind is blowing from the Pacific, I'd just have to wish you all the best.

And as long as the reverberations didn't set off Shasta or Lassen too. Them things are too close. Mammoth could get a bit jiggy too.

Lassen is one of the more active areas in the US that people have no clue about, and most have never even heard of.

Ha! But not sure a mask and shovel would touch a 1,000 KM nuée ardente in every direction. The odds are almost ZERO any of us would ever see one in our lifetimes, but damn, it'd be something else to witness in person.

I was around and in the area when St. Helens let loose, and that would pale in comparison!

I may be mistake, as I'm not a volcanologist, but if memory serves Lassen was the last one to go off prior to St Helens.

Most folks don't know about Mammoth either.

Idaho earthquake was caused by lack of human motorized activity which caused a modular cyclical vibration which was amplified by earth natural vibration , nothing to worry about.

Generally speaking, yes. There have been a few "events" along the North American Pacific Rim of Fire that could qualify since Lassen and St. Helen's, but general consensus would concur....

My degree is in geomorphology/geography/remote sensing from Chico State so I have a little place in my heart for California volcanoes!

When I get it completely figured out I'll tell you,

In Italian!

Honestly, about the time I figure it out in one place....................we move.

Used to have tomatoes survive along a south wall of the house in SoCal all winter.

Lived in a place in the desert near Las Vegas, had a serrano pepper plant live through 2 or 3 winters just covering it good on the frosty nights. Dang stem was as big around as my wrist/forearm.

Now, I have about 90 whole days frost free, have to get them started early and hope they don't freeze once they go out, and hope they ripen before the next hard frost.

Even with the little hobby greenhouse I bought last year I didn't do very well.

I hope I don't get excommunicated from the Official Dago Tomato and Pepper Growing Society.

Geno

PS, I'm so crazy I want to get a dwarf lemon and bring it in the house for 7-8 months a year!! crazy
