I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

That wasn't my question. Do they work?

I've put "Ernie The Gunsmith" springs in 3 different MK II's and they definitely helped. I don't remember the difference on my trigger pull gauge, but the spring was worth the money to me.

That wasn't my question. Do they work? You are still going to have a heavy pull. The only sure fix is to properly stone and polish the sear and trigger engagement. There are instructions all over the net because its such a prevalent problem. The mkII's are horrible until you properly tune them. Now, if we were talking the newer hawkeye LC6, its a lot easier to tune. A lighter spring and slight polish is all that is required. I like all my hunting rifles to have a 2.5 pound pull. The MK II can get there, but with some effort. A spring wont get you there.

I put the MCarbo's in my Rugers, from 17 WSM up to the 280's in the Hawkeyes. Haven't messed with a MKII, but the springs and some light polishing worked real well.

Judman, Yes, changing the trigger return spring will lighten the pull, but you’ll need more help. Every Ruger I have ever owned needed a bit of help in the trigger department, including the Hawkeyes with the “new” LC6 trigger. I have in the distant past just installed Timney’s but you can do as well or better just by modifying the existing trigger. Go to www.centerfirecentral.com/77trigger.html. When I found this site, my trigger problem was solved. You’ve just got to be careful removing metal. Go slow! I love my M77 MkII’s.
If we live long enough, we all have regrets. But the ones that nag at us the most are the ones in which we know we had a choice.
