Anyone tried this? I think I can easily run 235s to around 3,000 fps but not sure where to start. R16 is close to 4350 and within a grain or two of R15 but that is pretty speculative to transfer data.

Interesting, will be watching this thread, I do know I can get 2680 and 2700 fps with RL-17 with 300gr Partitions and BBW #13 solids, also used to push the 235gr Speers to 3K for fun back in the day with RL-15, over kill and not necessary of course, but it was hell on wheels for deer.

Thanks will look up R17 as it loads very closely to R16. Yes I could get plenty of velocity with R15 and the Speers may do better at sub 3K.

I've loaded the 235 Woodleigh.

77gr of RL-16 is a safe starting load. Should give you in the 2600s in a 24". A load-to velocity of 3000 ft/s is a reasonable max. You will end up fairly compressed by the time you get there. If you want an uncompressed load, AR-Comp is the temp-stable Alliant powder you would use but you'd give up about 100 ft/s doing so.
