I was old enough to vote in the 1968 presidential election. Used a machine just like, with all the levers. Voted for George Wallace, who by the way, carried our county.

When Louisiana replaced that type of voting machine with digital ones, they sold the old machines to Mexico.

Edwin Edwards won the first election there by a comfortable margin.

Imagine a corporate oligarchy so effective, so advanced and fine tuned that its citizens still call it a democracy.

We used those in NY up until the early 2000s.

I would bring my daughter into the booth with me and tell her which levers to throw.

I've also voted on one. Was always intrigued by the way the red handle controlled the curtain. You had to be 21 to vote back then - 1968.

I've voted on one of those machines, several times. Also, voted by marking your paper ballot with an 'X', and that was in the '90's.

Yes, you were informed. My point was that many people do not take the time to do any research whatsoever into the "lesser" offices and often wind up voting against their principles/best interest by not taking the time to do some homework ahead of time.
