I have my tool set here in the house, ready to go. I was off to a great start researching based on the information provided in the $650 build thread.... now there are hardly any components to order. Everyone is sold out!

There is money to be made in AR rifles right now I guess.

I feel your frustration.

So many panics & shortages in the last decade or 2 that many plans with normal everyday intentions have been delayed. This, hopefully will pass.

Yeah, you did pick a poor time
Maybe ask guys here if they have parts you need. I know most of us have a lot of parts from take-offs and builds.

There's stuff available if you look hard enough...........but lowers are probably the most problematic, especially if you are trying to buy cheap.

I've been buying parts for some spare uppers & have had no problems with getting what I wanted, but I'm also not buying bottom feeder stuff either.

This PSA kit's still in stock:

https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-16-chf-mid-length-rifle-kit.html

and if he just needs an upper, they still have a good selection with FN CHF CL barrels:

https://palmettostatearmory.com/ar-...-chf-uppers.html?dir=asc&order=price

If I didn't already have more uppers than lowers, there's a few of those I wouldn't mind adding to the collection.

Besides majority of us wouldn’t make it mile from our homes before you/we get shot and killed during the actual apocalypse. If you were going to bug out, time is now..

This apocalypse is about 'bugging in". The reality is most realistic scenarios are. How many people who are reasonable take all their gear with them and still have room for the family and their gear?

I think BSA's suggestion is a good one if you are just looking to put together a carbine and have a lower. I'm sure I'm way down the totem pole on extra parts compared to the armorers on here but I have stocks, gas blocks/tubes, old handguards, muzzle cages, detentes, springs, etc. Heck I only have two AR's at this point as well, probably guys on here with a dozen. Buying stuff and changing it out is part of the attraction.

Should have a trade, buy, sell, thread going on here anyway but now is kind of a bad time.

Delta team tactical. Buy a complete upper for under 300, take it apart, replace what you want to. Your not after a 2k build but it's a start for a working rifle

Primary Arms has a lot of stuff (and lowers) in stock. I made an order at 10PM last night and woke up to an email with shipping confirmation.

And I wouldn’t buy cheap parts just because it’s “now”.

You’ve survived this long without one, either buy quality or keep waiting. If you buy trash now you’ll hate yourself later. I’m November Trump will be re-elected and Rona will be gone and the bottom will fall out of the market again.

Primary has enough decent parts to put together a good upper; so does Bravo Company (BCM) if you use a blem upper receiver which if just fine.

Actually, I was going to follow along the lines of your recommendations on the $650 thread Bluedreaux. I was going to change a few things as I did some research like the BCM upper, BCM stock etc... maybe even the LaRue trigger. I was going to try and make a quality, and not heavy 16" barreled AR. Now all the parts kits etc are sold out. I may have to wait a couple months to get what I need. No biggie, it gives me some time to learn more about what I might want.

Thanks for all the advice on this forum guys!

I was able to get everything i need to complete my lower, all of the parts are BCM. I picked up a couple of the BCM stripped uppers (blemished) and an upper parts kit. Will have to do some looking on barrels, BCG etc because what I was looking at was gone!
