Just interested how many have a gun thats too pretty to hunt? Myself I hunt all my guns and try to blood 2 each season if I can. I own some pretty ones but they fill the bag just fine.

I have (had) a kimber stainless classic with pretty decent wood. I caught myself babying it and worrying about putting a scratch on it. My wife (usually not interested in guns in the least) walked by one evening and said "that one sure is pretty". I gave it to her and bought a Montana.

I grew up reading jack o'connor and wanted a win model 70 270 just like his #2. When Winchester started making the super grade in south Carolina I bought one. Truly a beautiful rifle, superb wood and high gloss blued metal. I killed some deer and an elk with it but was always so careful to avoid scratching the wood. A couple years ago I gave it to one of my grandsons. He's 10 now and will probably start hunting with it in a couple of years.

I’ve only owned 1 rifle like that and I sent it packing and have never regretted that decision. I have some nice equipment but I’m not afraid to risk scratching it to get that perfect opportunity at a game animal. In fact, I like a gun that looks used ... it means it has served its purpose!

I have a couple of shot guns worth more than my truck I hunt the heck out of them but do wince when I have to lean them on a barb wire fence. Same with the rifles but I don't own any Royal Grade H&Hs or anything too fancy but several customs.

If it’s got a firing pin it’s meant to be used.

I admire my pretty ones while sitting on a deer stand for at the base of a tree waiting for the squirrels to come out and play. I have an MS but in 1921 that I wish could talk. Just imagine the stories it could tell. Every scratch reminds me of a past hunt.

Had a beautiful Ruger #1 in .280 Rem.. IT was definitely in the "too nice to hunt with" category so I sold it an dpurchased a Ruger HAwkeye All Weather (stainless/black synthetic) in .280 Rem.

Not even a tinge of regret.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

I carry mine to stand in a soft case so I don’t jack them up. I have plastic rifles for walking around.

Pretty guns which show signs of use and care (not abuse) have class and character. Pretty guns with no sign of use are just boring.
