I wore out the barrel of my old .22-250 with this powder.. On the second one I switched to H4895.. I still have part of the last can of 4064 I bought.. Good powder but H4895 worked slicker through powder measure and I just never used up the rest.. It must be close 40 years old.

100grNP: I use it in several of my 220 Swifts. Just checked my handloading log book and 6 (six) of my 8 (eight) heavy barrel Varmint Rifles in caliber 220 Swift "prefer" (best accuracy!) IMR 4064!
The other 2 (two) are running H 380.
Long live IMR 4064!

Gotcha beat...

Being low of 4064 is like some Long Island rich guy being low on Grey Poupon....

Another fan of 4064 in the 30-06 with 150gr bullets.

My buddy is trying sell me his 8lb jug. He doesn’t like how it flows through his progressive for his 556.
I reload for 223 but already have 2lbs of TAC.
My other rifles are 6.5 CM using 130 game changers or 127 barnes
270 140 SST or 130 ttsx
06 165 or 180 sierras and 168 ttsx
And 9.3 is not listed.
I have partial 8lb jugs of big game and hunter.
Looking at their web site it doesn’t have the heavier pills listed and all I see is 150 in 06. Lame.
So I’m wondering if people tried to load the heavier stuff

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

I used to use it in 220 Swift with 50s & 52s before I found RL15. It worked fairly well in 22-250 until I tried RL12 or H4895 & then later stepped up to a 22-250 Ackley which is a whole new ballgame. I used to use it in 30-06 with 147/150s until I sold the Garand. It worked well in 375 H&H until I sold that rifle. It worked really well in a 7-08 match rifle I once had with Sierra 150s. Never could get enough in 358 Win. cases, but my Whelens liked it until RL-15 happened. It's a very useful powder, but mostly a backup now. RL15 meters so much better out of a powder measure, but I keep a couple ponds of 4064 around just in case RL15 dries up.

Ive used it with great accuracy in 300 Sav, 270, 30-06, 7mm-08, and 223... It would probably be easier to list what it doesn't work in!

3006, 130gn speer HP, lite and moderate charges of 4064 worked great. I like the stuff.

Hoping it will work out as well in 7-08 with 120nbt.

Wasnt really aware its useful in 223... interesting.

Yes! Loaded up a bunch of Hornady 150 RN’s for my 1895 Browning copy. Was when my right shoulder was really bothering me. Very pleasant load. And shot well. Can’t remember how much 4064 I used. Would have to go look.

While it doesn't give the velocity of some other powders, it shoots great with the 200 Sierra and Hornady. I put 9 out of 10 with the Sierra in about 1.5" (threw one) with 48.5 at just under 2400 fps. Great load for where I hunt some thick woods, where the shots are under 100. It also shoots well with the 225 Sierra at about 2450 fps. If I want more velocity, I use TAC or XTerminator and hammer deer at just under 2600 fps.

Used it (still use it) for years in the 308 WIN; my most accurate powder in a finicky M88 using Hornady 165 grain Interlocks.

I use it in:
22-250
220 Swift
30-06 for my M1's
375 H&H

It is almost interchangeable with Varget, listed loads are always close in charge weights. Those long slender grains don't meter as well as others but it will turn great accuracy in the above listed cartridges.

It worked extremely well with 120's in 2 of my 7mm-08's. Was a little slower than Varget but grouped the best of anything I tried.

I've been working with AA2015 & the Sierra 225. Real good accuracy & still creeping up on max. Almost at 2350 out of a 21" barrel with 41 gr. & it's still holding under 3/4" for 4 shots. There is some TAC on the way but shipping time with online orders is backed up about 2 weeks due to the recent panic.

So as not to completely hijack the original thread 4064 also shot well under an inch in 250 Savage & 257 Roberts with 100 gr bullets in the pre-chronograph days. Never killed anything with it besides paper, but it made me happy.

There was some short grain 4064 around years ago... Brigadier 4065 I think it was. Never did get to try any. I think it may have been made by the Scottish company that made some Hodgdon powder back then. Has anyone used Accurate 4064? Maybe it's the same stuff?
