working on the rl Morris 45.

I hadn’t tried FFG as of yet so I experimented today w 90, 95 g. next up 100. Didn’t do great, groups were about 1.25” at 100.

figured I would at least post some pics of the gun and loading etc

this is an underhammer, sealed ignition 45lb or so rifle. Not my heaviest, (that would be an 80lb monster.)

this is a 3 barrel, 2 action set
Underhammer:
45 RB(pictured)
62 RB
.485 slug gun
Flintlock:
52 RB

By far my favorite rifle(s) due to construction, fitting etc. The flintlock is inlet into steel. The work is amazing.

Anyway, the 45 at the home range:

Would you believe the pictures actually don’t do it justice and I struggled with them?
I will really wish I had the opportunity to meet the builder all those years ago

There’s a story about him in muzzle blast magazine in regards to how to work up a slug gun load, Bob Morris
A good read

Texas Muzzle Loading Rifle Association State Championships. A friend let me shoot his heavy rifle in the 200 yard match. That thing is a beast!
