They are some very nice rifles.
All you would likely ever need.

I’m glad they didn’t have that a couple years ago. I would have bought it and missed out on my great 6.5x55 Swede! I also wouldn’t be putting together a 300 Sherman which is pretty sweet too!

Damn. Guess they had the setup from the #1 special edition 280 AI.
They nailed the barrel length and twist. The sights add a nice look, but most likely are more cosmetic than really necessary on that caliber.

Can'y call it an African without sights. No. I just was at the range with a friend shooting the new African in .280AI. For sure a nice gun. Ive got one in a .275 Rigby that he wants for his collection and I told him he could have it when I reach room temperature...

Nothing screams Africa like Ackley.
Was hoping for a 7x64 or .318 WR for the cool factor.

I was hoping for a 350 Rigby Rimless, but a 35 Whelen will do.
Jason at Lipseys said the 30-06 and 35 Whelen are both on his list, coming soon.
He said the 35 Whelen was too close to last year's 93.x62, that they decided go do the 280 AI this year.
Can't wait for next year's caliber.

If this rifle was available in 30-06 Donald Trump would be buying me one with 1/2 a scope. Maybe the other 1/2 of the scope in a couple of weeks.

Well.....it’s never taken much arm twisting to get me into another gun, so I guess my African 6.5x55 is going to get a mate!

It is hard to imagine a better looking classic hunting rifle ... but then you add the .280 AI? Awesome.

Nice rifle! I’d prefer a 22” tube however.

Free floated barrel? The Ruger site did not specify, but when you blow up the pic it appears as though there is some space between the barrel and the fore-end of the stock.
It is tempting though.....

The two Africans I have aren't free floated - though there's a gap around the black forend tip, there's also a pressure point behind the tip.
