Yessir, spalted. I think it was a pic of yours a while back that got me interested in the LiteSkinner.
I can't tell from your question mark if you were wondering what that means, or just guessing as to the patterning. It's a fungal discoloration, happens in a lot of different woods and makes great patterns.

Spalted maple is my favorite handle wood. Getting it done correctly isn't a given. I worked with Todd Davison to get spalted maple for my folder.

The Todd Davison who sometimes posts pics of his beautiful folders here?
I'd sure like to see the spalted knives he made for you, if you feel like posting

Boise,
That's a beaut for sure. Lot of them in that thread.

Woods_walker,
Thanks, bud!
They arrived yesterday. Quite honestly though Gene's pics of them were very nice, the knives in hand are absolutely stunning. Far surpassed my expectations. Very pleased here.

Gene is one of the best knife makers in the USA, IMO !

And definitely one of the nicest ones to deal with, too !

Those are one of the nicer sets I've ever seen. I expect Gene will get a few more orders when you show those off
