Enjoyed a beautiful morning in Idaho. I had the decoy set before first light, and had three hens in my lap within 20 minutes. Was disappointed they didn’t have any Toms in tow, but truly felt grateful for the excitement and action right away.

I could hear a few toms down over the hill a thousand or so vertical feet, and was contemplating a move when the clouds and rain moved in. All of a sudden the birds shut up and I figured that was that. Was juuust about to walk out to grab the decoy when I caught site of a fan maybe a hundred yards distant.

Gave a couple of soft purrs and has this big fella at 25 yards in short order. Turkeys have humbled me so many times I’ve lost count, so it was nice to have an opening morning hunt go my way.

Hope all of you are enjoying your day just as much as I am.

Dave

Glad you scored, IDDAVE. Looks as if it'll make fine eating.
