Doesn’t appear to be any load data out there for this combo. Anybody have experience or data? 60/75/86 gr, cast or jacketed...

I'm overwhelmed by the feedback... laugh

Poked around a bit more and came up with zilch. Except that the .25-20 has roughly 20% more capacity than the .22 Hornet. Lots of loads listed for various powders on either side of the L.G. burn rate. H110, WW296, 2400, 4227 etc etc, etc.

Guessing I could fiddle around with a Speer 75 grainer and 7-8 gr of L.G.

See if you can find any data on Lil Gun and the 256 Win mag. There should be LOTS of info on that combo 😁 and then you can extrapolate from there.

85gr cast, rem 6 1/2, 6.6gr LilGun, around 1450fps in 24” marlin barrel. Have been adding dacron filler on top on gp, but have not tested for myself yet if is really needed.

The perfect load continues to elude me, but that one’s pretty good.

That load i found on the long 25-20 loads thread on marlinowners.com, did a little comparing, rolled the dice and i haven’t blown anything up. Not a factory provided load.

[Linked Image] I have a Marlin 94 CL 25-20 with a 22" bbl. This is the only bullet I shoot thru it. Because it is made of scrap WW ( BHN about 10.5 to 11 ) it has a bit more lead in it & comes out at 73grs ready to shoot. I use 5grs of Unique for about 1475 fps over my chronograph. I use a rim fire scope ( 50 yd para ) . I have had this outfit for 20+ years & it is deadly accurate. Very head shot capable on rabbits to 50 yds & beyond if you can hold steady. Also very capable for turkey ( when & where legal ) inside 100yds. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc] Rifling is what Marlin calls 'Deep Cut Ballard Type ".
