Being able to truly own your own land. Not having to make annual tax/rent payments to the king.

Seriously though—see thru scope mounts. What seems like a good idea but just doesn’t work. They should have marketed them as a see-thru scope mount and convenient carrying handle.

getting buried in pet cemetery next to my dog. My cousin (who was off her rocker and had military disability because of it) had her dog cremated. When she died a few years later, her burial instructions wanted her ashes mixed with Fido's ashes and scattered. Her brother did it but he was FAR from happy about it.

Moose turd earrings are a thing. Key rings made from moose turds? You betcha! It's only a matter of time until moose turd tongue studs are a fashion trend.

Speedloaders for single shot rifles and pistols. I thought (for rifles) that was those Ace Bandage things around the butt stock.

New cars, and pickups from the factory, a few small dents, scratches, a bit of rust on the rear fenders.
They would not deprecate as fast that way. Never work of course. There were a number of years where I swear Pontiac put out Firebirds in just that condition. For as many that were around, they had to be manufactured that way. I remember case studies from college (late 80's) that talked about how the Big 3 during the 1970's would always run flat-out, 'til the yards were full. Sometimes those cars sat 'til weeds were growing up through the hoods and the tires were flat, without being shipped to the dealers. They'd need up to $150 (gasp!) in reconditioning before they could be sent out for sale. The profs were trying to 'splain to us how Just-In-Time mfg was a good idea. Lately I've been watching Stranger Things on Netflix, with the 1st season set in 1983 in small town Indiana. The Pinto & K5 Blazer on the screen probably didn't look that good on the showroom floor. They may have chosen the correct cars for the time period, but none of 'em look like they've ever been through a single winter in Indiana. FC

A man having his tool cut off to try to become a woman. Oh wait, that IS being done. Still doesn't work, though. All you get is a man who can't breed (thank goodness).

We had an engineer at Caterpillar who bought a diesel test engine from the scrap yard after its yeast cycles were completed. He put it in his International 3/4 ton pickup and when the pickup finally rusted out, bought a new one, installed the old diesel engine, sold the new one back to the dealer and drove that new pickup til he retired when he used it to tow a camper all over the country. He commuted about 100 miles round trip to work. I worked with him for a brief time before he retired. Quite famous, locally.
