Does it exist? I'd love to be able to find a really accurate expanding subsonic 22 round. There are some subsonic hollowpoints available. Do they open up any? I understand that rimfires can be particular and that what is accurate for you may not be accurate for me, but I'd still like to get a few data points.

For small varmints at short range CCI quits with the truncated cone hollow point will definitely kill better than the round nose version. Accuracy is iffy in my model 75 because they are very dirty. I get 1/2 inch from a fresh cleaning at 20 yards, but they start throwing flier after a few shots. Squirrels will sometimes go 30-40 yards, but they produce a blood trail where as the round nose usually do not. I have killed a few out to 75 yards with them, but I have to wonder if maybe it wasn't dumb luck or some sort of accident.

I think you will find the CCI Quiet 22 Segmented Hollow Point (product code 970) is your huckleberry. This is for the 710 fps 40 grain version. There is also a 1050 fps version (product code 74) that is even more deadly, but is noisier than i care to use here in
the suburbs. These are both copper washed projectiles, so are considerably cleaner than the waxed lead versions. I've made many one shot kills on racoons, skunks, and feral cats, as well as crows and pigeons. Even a coyote (head shot) at 67 yards this past Winter.

Eley subsonic hollow point. I have used it for a few years now. Expands reliably. Very accurate. Not that expensive

They still make "Subsonics" that use the same projectile but plain lead. Don't know how well they mushroom in comparison but they are fairly accurate. The CZ liked them, the Anschutz likes them.

RWS Subsonics have never failed me. I've been using them since the late 70's. I used to save the ones I recovered from Squirrels I shot because they mushroomed a lot like a Nosler Partition.

The best I've used are the Eley and the old Winchester with the truncated cone hollowpoint. There is an ultra slow motion video of that Winchester expanding on a grape. I use them squirrel hunting and they are great.

That's what I use on squirrels and it's always DRT performance but I'm shooting off a rest from the house. My CZ 455 does not shoot the CCI Quiets well at all; I have an entire brick and am giving away a box at a time.

+3 , RWS subsonic hollow points , a noticable thump when they hit a squirrel , unlike many other Sub HP's .

I bought a Neil Waltz 22 hollow pointer die , works great , made my Wolf Match/Target shoot better and kills like a 22mag. now .
Don't try to get questions answered by Neil - he's an old machinist - retired , and figures there's plenty of info. online about his Die .
In other words just send him the money and a die will show up a while later . He's batting 1000 with delivered orders - - again don't start asking for a delivery date etc.etc. send $ and you'll get one and be glad you did .

They are sure decisive on raccoons, they might flop around a little, but they don't run off. CCI Segmented Subsonics are wicked good. The MiniMag version shoots better than the regular HPs, in my 452.

I've used several subsonic hollowpoints over the years. They all killed squirrels very well, with easily visible evidence of expansion. The now discontinued SK, Eley both the original and current version, RWS, and what I've been using the last couple of years, CCI. I tested Remington, Winchester, and CCI Suppressor, accuracy wasn't good enough out of my Kimber Hunter for squirrel hunting rounds. Haven't tried any of the CCI Quiet hollowpoints, plain or segmented, and only one box of CCI Segmented Subsonics, so no experience at all on critters with those.

After things return to normal I am going to try to score some CCI segmented. Superficial searches are showing a lot of "not in stock."

None of the segmented rounds I tried shot as well as the standard versions. RWS SSHPs have shot as well as just about anything, including some match-type ammo (not Ten-x grade). No high-pitched reports in the woods either, just a pleasant pop.

I cannot comment on accuracy or quietness with your setups but Winchester 42 MAX (w22sub42u) hits larger (for 22 rimfire) animals harder than almost anything I've tried. It's a soft lead bullet with a large truncated cone hollow point that is quiet and accurate in most of my suppressed rifles. I've noted expansion from even handgun length barrels. While not what u asked about, Federal american eagle suppressor (45 gr copper coated RN) hits hard and penetrates well. And for some reason, 22 long 29 gr copper coated CB's may penetrate best of all (and are surely quiet).
