Effectiveness of setting back barrel if throat is worn.? Examining all possibilities. Gun is at Smith’s now, and I’m awaiting report of barrels condition.
Thanks,
Bob

Many believe that unless you do your own barrel work, paying a smith to set back a barrel is not worth it. To get to fresh rifling, usually means to take the tenon off and rethread and chamber, just like a new barrel.

Or you could spend thousands on a lathe and do it all yourself. Now might be the time to get a new barrel. The smith has to pay for his lathe somehow if you take it to him.
