A couple days ago ran some test with my 6.5x06, Rel26 & the Nosler 140gr AB. My rifle has a 24" E. R. Shaw stainless Bbl with 1/8 twist. I had a jug of Rel 26 setting around for some time & finally decided to see what performance level could be attained in my 6.5x06 since it & the 6.5 PRC are almost identical in powder capacity. So "SAFE" in my rifle, 54grs of Rel 26, CCI 200 LR primers, Rem once fired reformed 25-06 brass. Over my chrono gave 3075 FPS. If you figure some where around 60 to 70 FPS gain with a 26" bb. This would mean about 3135 to 3145 FPS in a 26" Bbl. Cases fired several time & primers pockets still nice & snug. Not the slightest sign of excessive pressure, Three shot groups of 1'2" or slightly less. Sighted 1 1/2" high at 100 , hit dead on at about 225yds, Shooting on my range at an elevation of 7630".

I might fiddle with seating depth to see if I could get those groups under a foot. ;-)

I took no pictures of the group which my 6.5x06 took with the 140 Nosler AB bullet. This past Friday I shot & took pictures of the group this rifle produced with the 121gr Hammer. Safe in my rifle , 51.5grs of IMR-4350 produced 3238 FPS. The three shot group shown is two inches above the first square box.[img]http://[/img][Linked Image from i.postimg.cc] I see the gun forums as a great place to help one another. No matter how much we know there is always room for improvement. This particular rifle is accurate with just about any bullet I shoot thru it. This past season I took a mature elk with the Hammer 121gr bullet with full penetration thru both shoulders. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc][Linked Image from i.postimg.cc] As you can see the Hammer 121ghr 6.5 bullet completely penetrated & you can see the exit spot. This rifle shoots the Nosler 140 gr AB into tiny groups also. I wish all the very best & want to be helpful. The group size in my original post had a misplaced slash Was suppose to be 1/2" group not 1'.2. My error

Hesp,

My 6.5-06 ackley is similar with R-26 and the 143 gr ELD-x, and at 2.645 (with a comparator) it fits in the mag box. It has a 24" benchmark barrel and with 54.0 gr it's ~3000fps.

What would Porter Rockwell do?
