I have had several so far this year. Had one on me last night. I had not been out but my pup was next to me on the couch. She takes a pill for fleas and ticks. I need a pill too.

[bleep] that. I can deal with the itching. No chigger ever made anyone allergic to red meat or worse.

They were terrible last year near Priest Lake when we were hunting bears. Litterly 100's of the bastards between four of us. If ths year is worse, Covid closure might be a blessing. I hate em!

Had to deal with lots of them in MD. I have a black lab that could walk through a 100 acre field with only 1 tick in it, and somehow it would latch on to him. Hunting turkeys in the spring there always had me double checking for ticks, and on the east coast they have a high percentage of lyme disease infection.

I had a buddy that had one latch onto his foot and gave him some kind of bacteria infection that had him in the intensive care unit a few days later with his liver shutting down. I can't remember what he called it, but he was really close to dying for about 3 days. Months later he still had shaky hands, and a tube coming out of his chest. I remember he could barely pull his bow back the next deer season because he had no strength left. He's recovered now, but he takes tick's a lot more seriously now.

Got bit on the inside of the thigh and developed the red ring of lyme. Went to the doc and he had no idea what I was talking about. hippy looking guy musta been the only person left on planet earth that had no idea what a bad tick bite looks like. I got the meds and as far as I know it went away.

Back in the 70’s as a teenager I spent hours and hours in the woods I company with my dog when all we had for dogs was flea collars. The was in downstate NY, close to the epicenter of Lyme disease. There were ticks but I don’t recall them being a major problem, for me or the dog.

Going on a half century later and there and over much of the eastern half of the US seems like ticks drive a lot of people out of the woods in the warm season.

I dunno why they seem to have gotten so much worse.

LOL no kidding huh? Can you believe it, a doctor that had no idea what a red circle around a tick bite meant?

Call me retarded, but I find most all of those little creatures interesting. They are survivors. Granted, medically important Arthropods can (literally) be a pain. However, most are non-problematic. That being said, I kill the "bad" ones whenever necessary.

I used to whack possums on sight until I found out they eat ticks.

Give your doctor a call and have them call in a prescription for Doxycycline Mono 100MG for you. The time to take an antibiotic isn’t days later after you have been bitten and can get to a drugstore, it is right away when you find a deer tick that has been imbedded for a day.

was he really a Dr. or a PA?
only time I see a real dr is if I show up in emergency with bones misplaced or sticking out of the cover!
