Something a little different. Haven't gotten to put it to work yet. But all around seems well done.

I like the clean lines and simple kwaiken'ish design. Looks like a keeper to me.

Clean, crisp, well executed and a great steel.

The pendulum does swing both ways, but here in Einsteins universe it does both simultaneously.

Tim,
How would you compare CPM 154 with 154 CM?
Thanks,
bludog

Well, in MY opinion users in the field will not see the difference.

Under a million x microscope you can see the tighter, more uniform grain structure with the CPM process and the lab tests can surely show
the difference, but in the field to the average user..........not so much.
Same chemistry, but the CPM process gives you small beads of uniform material.
Standard process gives you a material mix more like a chocolate swirl cake,----- but not that extreme.

To me, the CPM 154 properly heat treated to 61 Rc is pretty darn good for most users in the field.

Others may want to add THEIR opinions and knowledge on this.

Tim's right. Proper stress relief and heat treatment will yield knives that are virtually identical. I know of only one maker, who I hold in extremely high regard, who has ever given me a reason to believe there are any distinctions between the two. Even in that case it was a very subtle.

PS: fwiw
When I started using CPM 154 I went to 61 Rc and had been doing 59 Rc with 154 CM.

No real reason for the difference, but I do not see much/any noticeable difference in grinding the blades
sharpening them or using them.

But that is just me. No lab tests or serious performance testing and do not remember any customer related comments.

As Tim said same steel different process.

Here is a fairly simple and accurate description.
