Carnival Cruise Lines has announced that all North American based cruises are now cancelled through July.

They were originally set to resume sailing in mid April. Tentative date to sail now begins on August 1 .

Atonement , someone asked for ?

The stock price is down. Is anyone going to be going on a cruise the next few years? I wonder how many will.

Had a wonderful cruise experience 15 years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary. Sadly, I'm with Whelenman on this one...

I feel the same way about those floating cities. We went on a Windstar cruise few years back. Think there was 100-150 guests on the boat. We docked at a different Caribbean island every day. You could go ashore, or relay on the boat. No ties, tux, or that BS, very laid back.

Why not drive up instead? Good road lots to see. Personally I can't imagine going on a cruise. My favorite time of year on the Alcan was fall. Beautiful colors.

Most ships, including cruise lines fly foreign flags. I would think it would be up to the country of that flag would be on the hook for that gov't payment, if any were to come.

And yet, you "never-cruisers" will blithely go to a concert, a sport arena, a car race, a movie - or a truck stop restroom. LMAO

offered me 125% on a future cruise credit, I chose to get a refund (which has yet to arrive - along with my airfare from Delta)

I was hoping for more than that given the situation they are in

I was really disappointed our Alaskan cruise was canceled. I'd invested alot of time into planning it

We were upgraded to free drinks and one of the best balconey rooms on the ship - if I go on a future cruise, I'll have to negotiate all that again.

At the moment I'm not in the mood to even consider it, not because I don't want to cruise but because of all the planning to go on another one. We rented a cabin for a week in the fall instead. Next year we'll see how this shakes out.

Rocky, I thought about you and your intended Alaskan Cruise when I read that.

Daughter in law and her entire family were set to sail in June. It was a big deal for them with grandson’s high school graduation celebration thrown in. That’s a bummer.

Yes, Toot, it's a major disappointment. Norwegian made us a very generous re-schedule deal, but I we'll opt for a refund and rebook next year. Because there's no guarantee that Norwegian will still be in business next year, and we'd lose the entire investment. Or that we'll be here and healthy, for that matter.

We have done several cruises and plan to do more. Not this year, probably not next year either the way things are shaping up though.
For us they are a great way to see several cities/countries on a single trip, kind of an overview of the area.
We avoid the bigger ships though, just too many people for us. We have one particular company we prefer to cruise with, after trying several.

If they’ll sweeten the deal for y’all and offer upgrades, you might want to reconsider the deal especially if you’re pretty set on next year.

My cousin and his wife had a trip to Italy scheduled, then an extended European river cruise to follow. With the cancellation, the cruise line offered them top upgrades OR a full refund up until the time of sailing should they want to cancel for any reason.

But, as you mentioned, will they still be in business?

I can’t see all of these vessels going to the salvage yards.
