I'm in the process of puttting one together(not a build) and want to know about the free bore. I'm either going to buy a Vanguard or Remington barreled action but will furnish my own stock. I'm just hung up on the no/or freebore. Thanks guys, powdr

In my experience a GOOD chamber with the standard "freebore" shoots great. Have had both a Weatherby Vanguard and a custom NULA that shoot extremely well, as in sub-1/2" at 100, and under 1-1/2" at 300. And in my experience good accuracy lasts longer than with a shorter throat.
If you go with a shorter throat, factory ammo will often blow primers. Yeah, I know nobody on the Campfire shoots factory ammo....

John, does the Vanguard have free bore. How long is the free bore on average? Can it be too long? Thanks, powdr

Yes, the Vanguard has "freebore", because it's standard for the .257 Weatherby chamber. Freebore is just a longer than average chamber throat, and the SAAMI standard length for the .257 Weatherby is about 3/8" long.
Many custom gunsmiths, however, prefer to use a much shorter throat for the "freebore" Weatherby rounds, believing it results in finer accuracy. In general, this has not been my experience, as so many factory Weatherby rifles I've shot in the past couple of decades have grouped really well--and not just in .257 but the .270, 7mm and .300 Weatherby magnums.
As noted above, if a Weatherby chamber has a shorter throat, pressures with factory ammo can rise a LOT. Essentially, a custom rifle with a short-throat Weatherby chamber becomes a handload-only rifle.

It will be the standard Weatherby SAAMI standard (long) freebore. Only a custom barrel can be ordered with a shorter freebore, and it's generally discouraged.

Ramshot Magnum gives me excellent accuracy, velocity, and ES/SD as well as being able to be able to meter very well through my Harrells. Standard Wby freebore in a Lilja bbl on a Win M70 action.
