That intel was probably as accurate as what came from the SECOND passenger who got a ride in a chopper, after the first one made that 500 foot first step out of the door without a parachute.

What a story. And I believe every part of it. I was never there. I have a few close friends who were there. Their stories are good and not to be repeated. Most are from the Vietnam era. One was from '94 to '98. A marsoc's stories. I know, They didn't really name them that until '06. But he was there and got the T-shirt. It was between the two sand boxes. And we weren't there right? But I had to put SOC at the end of his unit numbers to get the mail to him. He said they had to put their vehicles under the helicopters to get them into battle but they were Jeeps. The Hummers were too heavy to sling under the Helicopters. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

Wow some great stories.

Imagine jumping out of a hello onto a tiger!

So many stories of the Vietnam War, like every other war, that weren’t told but if you sat quietly with someone who was you might get an education.

My sincere thanks to those that have served or are currently serving.

There was at least one other "Green Beret" tiger in Viet Nam.
In 1968 the 5th Special Forces Group, Airborne had a jump school (Detachment B-51) in Dong Ba Thin.
B-51 acquired three tiger cubs.
One stayed with B-51, one went to the commander of LLDB (RSVN Special Forces
that we supposedly worked for) and I do not remember where the 3rd kitten went.

Last I knew Clyde was pushing a couple hundred pounds. He liked the Americans, but was pretty rough on the indigenous camp members.
There was a screened in area where movies were watched in the evening. A lot of the indigs filled any empty space inside. Once in a while
someone would slip out and get Clyde. When he entered there was total chaos. Kinda like a [bleep] event with a lot of scrambling and yelling.

Sorry I do not have much more to tell of the story, but I have ever since had a place in my heart for tigers.
Somewhere I have a pic of Clyde but......

Also there seemed to be quite a few reports of tigers attacking marines spending the night in listening posts.

Ahhhh the good times.

Sadly. these days you'd be in Leavenworth for extracting info in any sort of imaginative way, even if it saved American lives, or the Eco-police would lock you up for messing with an endangered species! I have no problem with either.

Awesome story.

I can tell you that military dogs in Iraq did not suffer from a lack of attention either. Hardly anyone could walk by one on a FOB without petting them.

Great story. A few more tigers and we could have told Cronkite to FOAD instead of yielding to the MSM. (The beginning of a pattern to this day BTW.)

Great story, and I do believe it, didn't spend to much time "In Country" most of my time was off the coast in the Ton-kin Gulf. Was TDY to Dang Nag for awhile. Lots of stories and memories. Unlike many of those who were there I am still around. Several who I went to HS with did not come home.
