After 40 years, I had to replace my redwood deck this winter.Wife would not consider synthetic. How long to wait before applying a sealant and what is the best one to use? The deck has been done since mid January, but snow just all melted two weeks ago.

I use Preservawood penetrating oil and sealer. I use the pacific redwood color. It comes in a few differnt shades including clear IFIRC. I like it as I have never had to scrape it to re apply later. It is runny tho so on railing it will drip. Home Depot carries it.

PermaChink Deck Defense. We’ve used it since it came out a couple years ago with great results. Never had a call-back.
Buy it direct, they run specials all the time.
