Hope today is going better Sammo!

I dug a field today for my cousin while he got the drill ready to plant it. Thankfully all went well.

A man has to know his limitations, I am pretty sure that I couldn't land the space shuttle or cut it as a rancher.

Thanks for a look at another life guys.

Hello gentlemen, and Paul....

Today was an easy one.

Gonna brand the main herd's calves tomorrow so we shuffled them over closer to home. Tightened up and fixed some fence, got straw rolled for anyone that decides to calve up in the pens.

Filled a few round bale feeders, build a little wing out of portable panels, unlocked a couple gates for the spray guy. Weeds are coming and he should hopefully be done by Sunday.

Just got off the phone with a couple guys that are gonna come over and help with branding. Trucker is lined up for hauling out loads Mon/Tues.

Weather looks perfect, 72F tomorrow and light wind, good for cattle work and the weed killing. Might hit 90F early next week?

No complaints.

Cuzzin, 200 hours and an injector went out?

Da fuuck?

Good luck, keep the fence wires tight, don't let the cattle lice bite. We do need better markets.

Eat more beef!

Glad your day went better today.

Yeah. 200 hour injectors are lame!

Although I just lost 2nd gear in my spraying tractor.

That might also be lame!

i tried to help you guys out by ordering some ribeyes from our local Fareway the other day. They had been shorted two previous orders and had none available. Next order coming in they were limiting to two to a family.

Late calvers are a pain in the ass.

It's only about a mile from the river to the corrals but of course day old calves don't need to be included with the gather.

Try and make sure momma stays with and doesn't go full cowtard and run with the bunch.

Thinking we have 30-40 head left to calve. That's the main thing I don't like about those huge BLM/CMR pastures. Pretty sure the cows are spread out so much that the bulls miss some of 'em first cycle.

We had opens that I bet never found a bull all summer. Healthy condition young cows turned out on grass that end up open.

George and Wabi, rib steak two nights in a row here, and another cold Bud Light before I drift off to dreaming of 10 hours of non-stop cow bellowing tomorrow!

Jim, did Cat say why the injector(s) went out so soon?

What tractor, a red one?

You know EXACTLY what I'm talking about with the cowtards.

They've actually been really good this year, but there's always one in every herd....

I figure with alla the money Ol' Jim has, it's probably a Challenger if he's got a Cat mechanic working on it... whistle grin

I must have been half asleep.

The red tractor comment was in reference to losing second gear.

Figured the injector was a yellow machine.

Had a neighbor with a JD backhoe cussing about replacing injectors that went out with short time on them...

If it's an electric part, it may last 30 years or 30 minutes... smile

Sweet, I had the tractor fired up and ready to go by 7:30.

Notice a low tire on the toolbar so I pull it over to the pickup. Tire rolls and loses its bead, fuuck, whatever.

First pull on the air compressor and the pull cord assembly goes to hell. Great.

Take a short piece of ropes and wind it up on the 'flywheel' and she starts right up. Take a ratchet strap and run it around the tire and she takes air...sweet.

About this time dad pulls up and has that look on his face... Ahhh chit.

Good old cow is down trying to calve and something isn't right.

There goes farming.

I go back down to the cows and sure enough, backwards calf, smells bad, I can't push it back in whatsoever so I shot the cow...damn it she was a nice old cow, #804...

Of course my plastic sleeve glove ripped and I had a nice soaking of nasty juice.

See where we are going here?

Now it's about 11:30 and I get the tractor going.

First pass around the field I notice an old railroad tie about 100' out in the field. Figured some dumbass had tossed it out last fall and I'd grab it on the next pass.

Should have been paying better attention because I notice that the railroad tie is now dragging about 50' behind the toolbar. Sonuvabitch it was part of an old fence!

And of course it got caught up and wrapped around 4 of the spindles on the toolbar. We are talking a 4 wire barbwire fence here and I now have about 40' of it wrapped tighter than chit around the wheels/spindles and all over the place. Pickup is a mile away, all I had was my Leatherman.

All you can do is just start laughing. My poor Leatherman has seen better days.

You been reading in my diary again.

Trans problem is an 8650 John Deere.

Injector is on an 85c Challenger.

No idea why we have so much trouble with it.

Our 85d has had no trouble.
