I was born with bicuspid aortic heart valve.... No problemo until 60's... developed severe aortic stenosis... Open heart, cow valve made in Singapore... I backpacked a buck out 4 weeks after surgery., on my 69th. Careful with my surgical fractures. They do amazing things.... Best wishes for speedy recovery!

Well I'm still here I thought they were going to start the surgery this morning but they rescheduled for Monday morning. They had a lot more tests that they wanted to get done like CAT scan, ultrasound the carotid arteries, and hey covid-19 test. So far everything's come back with flying colors except I have 3 blockages in my heart that they will deal with Monday morning. They've got me at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in the heart Tower and from my understanding this hospital or Methodist downtown is the best in this area for heart surgery. I read everybody's comments and I am very thankful for all the prayers and well-wishes and experiences shared. I do want to be out back in the field hunting and fishing and feeling good once again God willing. Once again thank you for all the prayers and blessings

Good luck with your procedure! Hope you have a speedy and uneventful recovery.

A good friend of mine was scheduled for robotic bypass surgery at the University of Chicago this morning. Awaiting word on how his surgery went. I wish that procedure was an option for me when I had a triple bypass four years ago.

Good luck with your surgery. I had a double by pass at Houston Methodist in 1990. Just a few months shy of 30 years ago. I’m sure that’s ancient as for as medical procedures go. Hasbeen

This is a big deal but as others have mentioned, with modern procedures and technology, be glad you're doing this today vice 20 years ago. Good luck sir!

Sorry to post so late. The best to you. May the doctors, and nurses be good Republicans',.

Much more important, may our Lord Jesus watch over the doctors, ad bless you with a fast recovery.

Best of luck! Focus on what it will allow you to do once healed to get through the pain.

A year or 2 ago I had my Achilles removed, the back of my heal cut off, and then the tendon screwed back on. They only gave me pain meds for maybe 1 day and it hurt like mad especially the first month. I'd sit up all night and often just thought about being able to be out walking on a rabbit hunt in a place called Malta that I hunted a lot when younger.

That simple thought of a rabbit hunt got me through a lot. Simething to look forward to is healing. I still need to get down there for the hunt.

I’ve had two bypass surgeries-last one five ago. Not something I would choose for amusement but both went fine. Three suggestions: Keep that pillow close and use it; work hard in the cardiac rehab that follows; postpone changing out overhead light bulbs for a while.

Best wishes for a complete recovery and keep us up to speed.

You have a good attitude , God be with you. Already sent up other prayers. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

If attitude plays a big part of success, you'll sail thru this without a hitch. May all your tags get filled this fall. Good luck!

I had a 31 year career in cardiac surgery, and I can assure you that you DO NOT want the robotic version of any surgery on or in the heart.

I know the worry & anxiety you're going through right now. Had mitral valve replacement five years ago at 76 yrs. old after battling heart problems for (16) years. I was scared as hell before my surgery, but all went very well. Recovery is tough, but very doable, for a youngster like you! God bless & prayers for you. And Yes, I'm still hunting, albeit at a slower pace!

Houston was blessed to have Michael DeBakey and Denton Cooley at their hospitals. I had my bypass done at Methodist 20 years ago. I asked the nurse who was prepping me if Dr.DeBakey was around and he said " he's here every day, he always keeps a close watch on these operations". The guy was dedicated.
