I have a very early (pre-pedersoli) MRRW 50cal Hatfield that has never been fired. Just wondering if anyone else has one and what they think of it, or if you've even heard of them. They were in business in the late 80's and early 90's in St. Joe Missouri.

I lusted after the Hatfield squirrel rifle, small caliber flintlock after seeing one at a Black powder match. It was nice and very accurate.

I have two Hatfields, a .45 flintlock by Pedersoli and a .50 caplock.

I believe the .50 caplock was made by the original Hatfield company prior to the Missouri River Rifle Works buyout because it has a 1:48" twist and the 50 calibers made by MRRW supposedly had a 1:70" twist. The only markings on the gun are "Hatfiedd" and "WARRANTED" on the lock and "385" under the barrel.

It's a jewel.

Here's my .45 flintock made by Pedersoli. It's a mighty fine rifle - good sparker and accurate. It has lots of barrel markings that don't appear on my .50 caliber. As I understand it, Pedersoli made the barrels and used wood and some other parts supplied by MRWW.

Dang, even if I knew how to post pics I would refrain after seeing these rifles.

Beautiful rifles. Your photography makes them look even better, if that’s possible.

curious, is the hatfield more or less similar to the “frontier rifle” that pedersoli currently sells?

Not sure if it is or not. The pics in the Pedersoli ad are of the full stock and nice brass model. Mine is a half stock all "blued" always save model.

Looks identical to my Frontier to me, except that one has nicer wood and different (better) sights. Mine is a .50 Flintlock, great rifle after I switched the sights out and switched to Lee REAL bullets vs RB
