I have really come to enjoy my rimfires now that I have my own range.

Notable features: * Elm wood stock. I hadn't heard of such a thing until I bumped into this. Turns out its OEM. * 3/8 dovetail which many Stevens-made guns didnt have. * Marked S-L-LR (I've seen others that were shorts only or LR only) * Bolt hold open notch (they dont all have them) * Loading gate is on the side of the mag tube. Looks odd but people say its handy. * Nice trigger * Nice bore
Hope it functions well (no way to test it). I'll find out in a week or so.

It has a VQ hammer and extractor and shoots quite well. CCI SV and Aguila SE SV shoots under 0.5" at 50 for 5 shots, quite often under that. Most anything but the real cheap bulk shoots under 3/4". Real stable off a bipod with the short heavy barrel.
To me 22 LR are supposed to be cheap and fun to shoot so it defeats the purpose to buy $20/box ammo therefore I can't say what it would do with the good stuff.

Maybe - Priority is to test fly the Archer and do the new engine break in and that going to be either sat/sun depending on weather.

What's the story on these grips? I'd like to replace the tiny factory ones I have.
Pugs, they are Hogue wood grips on the 63 square butt, and the equivalent is on the lower pic on the 34 roundbutt. They feel (and look) great. Big impove-a-mentay over the tiny factory grips....

And they arrived. Went with Rosewood as they had them in stock. Kind of a pain to fit. The screw provided was just a thread short so found one in the drawer and machined the head down and shortened it a little to fit the recess and polished it so it looks just like the factory screw. They feel really good!

Savage MKI FVT 22lr. I found this one new, but on clearance in nevada last christmas. Paid $199.99 for it. I just put it in a boyds stock yesterday:
With the short synthetic stock, It was shooting pretty dang good:
All original 1949 winchester model 52B:
This rifle is fun to shoot and puts a lot of rifles with scopes to shame...
Mossberg chuckster 640KD:
This target was good enough to win a turkey at a fall rimfire shoot^^^^ Some azz walked away with 4 out of the 6 turkeys that year...
In the pic above, the rifle on the bottom is my A17. It shoots surprisingly well for a semi auto 17HMR. So well in fact that on our last golf ball shoot, it dominated the competition. The souped up high dollar Volquartsens didn't stand a chance...:
Won 10 out of 10 tournaments with that rifle. Each match/tournament you shoot against at least 3 guys... Its no slouch in the accuracy department... The rifle is glass bedded, which helps to maintain its consistency..

Thanks Paul. I shot it earlier this evening. It still shoots great in its new stock. At one time during the session, I thought to myself that it may even out shoot my 52!!!

I only have a couple, but what I have I really enjoy. First is a Savage Anschutz 164 w/ Gloss Leupold Vari Xii 4-12x40AO. Tight chamber, tight groups, great trigger - this is how .22s should be made.
Next is a CZ 457 17hmr - I also have a Stainless .22lr barrel that is very accurate. Scope on this one has been upgraded to a Matte Leupold Vari Xii 4-14x40AO. This thing is hell on rock chucks!

That HMR is sweet. Looks like some pretty nice lumber. I don't think I have ever encountered anyone whose HMR was't impressively accurate.
Lots of impressive shooters being posted on here. Some of my rimfire collection:
Ruger precision 22 Ruger 77 paddle boat. Very tight chamber. Will not extract loaded rounds. Shoots under a moa at 100 yards Ruger American Ruger 77 .17HMR. After glass bedding, this is now a shooter Ruger 10-22 16.5". Custom trigger. Just an OK shooter This the only 10-22 that I've seen with a factory tensioned v block holding barrel to receiver. Shipped from Ruger with Hogue stock Ruger 10-22 with folding collapsible stock. 100% factory with Ruger logo markings on the stock. Ruger custom shop 10-22. This a shooter when matched with right rimfire fodder.
Top center 10-22 challenger Left side Mark III 22/45. 5.5". Custom internals. Mark III Hunter 6 7/8" fluted. This a shooter. Custom internals Mark III 5.5" custom internals. This is also a shooter Mark III Lite custom internals and suppressor Mark IV slab target very accurate. Shown with another receiver with 5.5" barrel and 2x Leupold. It's very easy changing receiver/barrel combinations. custom internals Right side SP 101 4" Mark II 6 7/8" target. no modifications Mark II 6 7/8" target. Custom internals and very accurate High Standard HD Military. Production date 1949
Magazine disconnects have been removed from IIIs and IV. With custom internals triggers are between 2 and 2.5 lbs and after take up are very crisp.

Only .22lr left are a CZ455 and a 1022SP. Just dropped a Kidd buffer and oversize trigger housing pins in the Ruger. May get out and do some testing next weekend.
host images Ruger 77/22’s LR and WMR my favorite rimfires, both shoot exceptionally well and have served me well in the squirrel woods. Currently looking to add a CZ 457 or 455 to my line up and hopefully one day can find a 10/22 magnum.

Both of mine shoot lights out to, just need to upgrade the trigger in the magnum.
It's a 22. I have too many raccoons and armadillos on my acreage. I am going to mount a light on the rail and thin out the numbers. The clerk that sold it to me laughed when I told her she was selling and armadillo gun.
I recently acquired a Buck Mark Micro Bull Stainless .22 lr pistol (limited production) at Fleet Farm. I was looking for something else, but it caught my eye and felt so 'right' in my hand - I didn't want to let go of it.
I got to shoot it a week ago (just freehand) and I looked pretty good - But I give the pistol all the credit.
I also bought a S&W M41 Target Pistol .22 lr (drop-dead gorgeous) late last fall and only got to shoot it 'barely' as an early winter storm was closing in. I didn't take it with me this last outing because I don't want my friends getting their germs on it.

Maybe tomorrow in my basement just to be sure it goes bang. Usually I go to the nearby range early every week to avoid the crowds. Everyone being off for the virus has increased usage a good bit.
Also have to give my CZ Kadet 2 unit a good workout. That one has 10 shots into the basement trap.

1. 1948 Browning Trombone, 22LR bought for Dad as a birthday present by Mom in 1948. 2. CZ453 American, 22LR. It will cut the staples out of a target at 25 yards 3. Ruger 1022 from late 70s. Box stock tack driver. 4. Browning Challenger pistol from 1971 in 22LR. Scary accurate.
the old Browning pump holds the most sentimental value cause it was willed to me by my Dad, and it was on that little rifle Dad taught me the principle of "Aim small-- Miss small."

I go to the pawn shop and buy all the cheap 22s, take them home, take them apart, repair, oil, and put on the shelf.
I have bazillions of cheap 22s. But through a special deal, I get to keep some of them at my brother's house. I bought Bushnell scopes for the occasion @$20 each.
My brother said to me, "I could go to a gunshow, buy a cheap 22 and fix it. But YOU HAVE RUINED THAT FOR ME!"
These all have the same $20 scope

I really don't have a problem. I can quit buying rimfires at any time. It's not an addiction. No, I don't need an intervention. (lies lies lies) The joys of a C&R FFL, Postal lady dropped it off at the house today.
The newest a 1964 Colt Targetsman, It will pair nicely with the 64 Colt Woodsman match target that was my Grandfather's retirement from Graybar that year.

Pugs, nice pistol! I have it’s twin but 1975. I like mine, but the trigger pull is a little heavy. Made a spare magazine out of a Beretta Neos mag, works great.
