Second, If you ever do get a chance to get outside with Roger, realize there are things down there that can eat you, and if you're out a little ways, you ain't touchin' bottom even with a 300' anchor line! (or 10K feet in some places).

I miss the ocean, it's a wonderful experience.

didn' run the 70 miles to ranzell, instead of being 3ft in the morning and dropping to 2ft it was 5-6 ft and sloppy. took a little over 2 hours to run to our snapper numbers 27 miles SE.

Thanks! And I have fished with Roger before except on a lake.
He’s one heck of a fisherman!

Smaller ling eat better.

Big ones tend to be girls, anyway. Anything over 28”, 30” tops goes back.

Sounds like a smart call. That kind of distance and seas can make for a long, ass kicker of a day. Knowing when to hold’em and when to fold’em is why reckless guys like us get to live to fish another day. 👍

It’ll be that much sweeter when you do get the window to run 70+ miles......the big fish gods will smile upon you for your restraint.

we stopped at a rig on the way back in and had a 80-100 lb pound cobia come up to the boat but we couldn't get it to hit anything we threw at it.

we didn't have squid today didn't plan on snapper fishing today so used some blue runners/hardtails for cut bait.

I've had good luck with a peeled jumbo shrimp burying the hook in it on a fluorocarbon leader.
