Yippee!

It's that day when I pressure wash, clean, and grease everything on my big shredding rig...

Started early this morning.



Already sweated out my jeans with this fun.


Pressure washed the shredder, greased it, and checked the gear box lube levels, filled all 6 shredder wheel bearing hubs, sharpened the blades.

Need to go through the interior of the cab now... I think I'll turn that a/c on while I'm at it.

Maintenance ain't fun, but it's cheaper than not doing it.

I lost count of all my zerks. Ain’t for sure if I got all of them.

Found some there weren’t in the manual, couldn’t find some the manual said I had. 😃

I hit them all today...

Some get grease every day I use the rig.

That Lincoln electric grease gun gets a workout! Best thing I ever bought for using on the tractors/equipment.

I'm currently taking an iced tea break from my never ending task of eradicating honeysuckles from the face of the earth with a cordless Echo chainsaw and a Yardmax chipper from Rural King.

Total cost,.. about $675.

It would be much easier with a $200,000 skid steer and forest mulcher rig,..and that's going to be the first thing I buy when my lottery numbers come in.

Actually, it's kind of satisfying to reduce a big honeysuckle bush to chips. If I had a 25 year old body to operate my elemental equipment with I'd be having fun with it,.....64 year old body,...not so much.

A $200k skid steer?

You can rent one for way less than the $675...

If you like those honeysuckle to come back, get the mulcher head.

If you want them permanently gone, use a root rake.

I have one. Tis great for rooting out any type of brush, then piling it for burning/chipping.

There's an equipment rental place near here that rents skid steers, but they don't rent forest mulchers. I don't know about a root rake.

I bet they do have a root rake.

You just take it through the brush with those teeth in the ground a bit, and alla the roots come right up. The dirt goes through the back of the rake, so you aren't pushing lots of dirt.

Pile it all up, then back drag and level it out with that rake, and you are done!

That thing would solve your bamboo problems too.

This area was solid brush/trees...

I had a guy run a forest mulcher through the bamboo last year. Then I attacked the roots with an 8N, a subsoiler, and a disc. After I got an 8" thick slab of mulch disced into the ground, I smoothed it with a grader blade. It's in condition now that I can hit anything that pops up with the mower.

A few small sprouts pop up, but from what I've read if you repeatedly mow it, it dies.

The bamboo situation is over. It took a lot of work and more than a little money.
